Shirley NY- On Monday December 3, 2018 at about 3:12 PM the Brookhaven FD was activated for a report of a house fire on Alder Lane off Ranch Drive. Automatic Mutual aid was activated from Mastic for an Engine. Brookhaven Chief Giuseppe Loiacono arrived on scene and began investigating the situation as additional information was stating smoke in the house. Upon entry a smoke condition was discovered and Loiacono ordered the first due engine which ended up being 5-3-5 to bring in tools and a fan. The 2nd due engine was ordered to standby at the hydrant.
Upon further investigation it was determines to be an oil burner issue. Crews from Brookhaven and Mastic vented the structure and the job was declared under control in about 20 minutes. Shirley ambulance was on scene as a precaution.
